IC INFORMATION
Character Name: Eddard "Ned" Stark
Canon: Game of Thrones
Canon Point: Episode 1x09, "Baelor"
Age: early 40s
Background: Wiki
Arrival Scenario: Thorne
Suitability: Ned was raised to be a leader and a protector, and this is something that he sees as his duty. If there is a way that he can help, he does it. He also has experience as an advisor to a king, and in fact was sought out specifically for the job because the king didn't think he could trust anyone else, and he will willingly take on an advisory role. What he's most likely to do is utilize his skills as a warrior. He maintained his skill with a sword, and at horseback riding. He would teach others how to do either should such things be necessary, and lead troops into battle. On a smaller scale, he would provide protection services to individuals or small groups, or teach them some tips to defend themselves. There also are similarities between here and Westeros, so he shouldn't have too much trouble adjusting.
Powers: Nothing superhuman; he's just your average human.
PERSONALITY QUESTIONS
Describe an important event in your character's life and how it impacted them. The deaths of his father and older brother. Prior to this, as the second-born son, he had somewhat more freedom in the path his life would take, but upon the deaths of his father and older brother, he became the Lord of Winterfell and took on his father's position and duties. Ned also inherited his brother's betrothed, as it was a marriage intended to strengthen political alliances, and over the years he and his wife grew to love each other. His life would have been vastly different if his brother hadn't died.
Does your character have a moral code, or other set of standards they try to live by? He is an honorable man, to the best he knows how. If he has to pass judgement, he does it in as fair a manner as he can. He believes strongly in the idea that the man who passes the sentence should carry it out, as when he performed an execution himself instead of expecting someone else to do it. This principle is something he made a point of teaching to his sons, as well.
What quality or qualities do they admire most? There are several. Integrity, responsibility, the act of nobility, having a sense of duty are all things he values, in himself an in others. He tries to direct people to make decisions and take actions with these principles in mind, though of course it doesn't always work out that way.
Do they have a part of themselves they dislike? He is, perhaps, somewhat too honorable, which means he doesn't question others' motives like he maybe should. He trusted the wrong person, because he didn't consider what this person's motives might be, and the result of the actions he took was him being beheaded as a traitor, and a war starting. He expects too much that other people play by the same rules he does.
What is their sign, and why? The Emperor. He is a leader who oversees his domain responsibly, keeping in mind all of the people who rely on him for the safety of their homes and families. He doesn't give an order and then stand aside while someone else carries it out -- he does it himself, or is in the middle of whatever is happening.
